Hopalong Cassidy Lunch Box

Hopalong Cassidy Lunch Box

Alexis P |

Based on the original prototype by Robert O. Burton, Aladdin Industries first produced what we now know as the traditional square shaped metal lunch box with its collapsible handle in 1950. It featured an image of cowboy hero Hopalong Cassidy. This release is what many consider to be the beginning of the Golden Age of lunch boxes.

There were several versions of the Hopalong Cassidy lunch box - including both red and blue lunch boxes, square and scalloped edge images, and thermos bottles with yellow and red tops.

Do you know anyone who owned one of these lunch boxes?

Janie,

My mom had one as a child, and I now own it. It looks just like the one pictured here.

Amchornetgirl ,

I have over 400 of the original lunch boxes, many with the thermos.

Tom Maloy ,

I had the Bionic Woman lunch box. I lost the thermos bottle at school. From then I only had the lunch box. I think we sold it at a garage sale. I should have kept it.

Roni T,

What about Roy Rogers lunch box?

Becka ,

I don’t know who had one! But probably worth a lot of money now.
